car is idling really rubbish its an sunny n14 with a ga14de, any thoughts?
the exhaust note is really stuttery but not a misfire, runs fine when auto choke is on from cold but when warm and autochoke comes off it has the idling problem, its all the time not intermittent btw!

could be the idle control valve sticking or something mate

Totally different car I know but just with the above mentioned, I had the same symptoms when I had a Volvo S40 T4 and it was always the Idle Air Control Valve that was the problem.  Taking it off and blasting with WD40 would cure it for a while and then just buying a new one stopped it permanently.
 
Hopefully it's the same thing and it's an easy cure then :-)

cheers guys, i'll get the haynes manual out, im assuming this idle control valve is going to be on the throttle body so i'll have a go at work today

yer it was the fast idle controller a long hexagon with a plug on the end...19mm spanner takes it out....sprayed it with brake cleaner and chucked it back in and the idling is sorted now runs like a dream! i hope theres another meet sumtime soon, fitting a new clutch tomorow so all will be well
